Hermanitas Conference
MANA de San Diego and MANA de Orange County are pleased to announce the first annual Hermanitas Summer Pledge: A Regional Educational Leadership Conference, presented by Southwest Airlines.
The Conference will bring together not only regional but all hermanitas nationwide to instill the importance of education and leadership in the girls. It is expected that over 100 Latinas will participate in the Conference, which will take place at the University of San Diego. During the conference, the topics that will be covered include higher education, teen pregnancy prevention, safety, leadership, and self-esteem.
The Conference is only open to Hermanitas from participating MANA chapters. If you'd like to sponsor or volunteer for this event, please contact Myrian Solis Coronel at mcoronel@manasd.org or 619.726.7443.
About Hermanitas:
Hermanitas, the Spanish word for “little sisters” promotes higher education, leadership development and peer support to Latinas ages 12-18 through one-on-one mentoring. The primary goal of the Hermanitas program is to develop successful and responsible young Latinas, lower the Latina high school dropout and teen pregnancy rates, and to encourage the pursuit of higher education.
