MANA de San Diego’s Board Development Committee is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the MANA Board of Directors beginning a two-year term in January 2025 with a maximum of (3) three (2) year terms. We are seeking skills and expertise in Certified Public Accounting, Information Technology, Financial Investment Management, Health & Wellness Advocacy, and Board Governance. Join us in shaping a brighter future for our community. As a board member, you’ll guide our strategic direction and collaborate with a talented team. Board members are responsible for upholding and promoting MANA’s mission to transform communities by empowering Latinas to achieve upward mobility and a better quality of life.

This opportunity is open to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Current MANA de San Diego member
  • Contributions towards advancing Latinas
  • Demonstrated positive leadership
  • Ability to commit time and energy to MANA de San Diego
  • Community members in good standing that will foster a working environment of transparency, inclusivity, clarity, accountability, respect, and trust
  • Seeking skills and expertise in: Board Governance, Certified Public Accounting, Information Technology, Financial Investment Management & Health & Wellness Advocacy
  • Experience in fundraising and/or development and the ability to identify individual donor, corporate and foundation funding opportunities for the organization

*Skill set and expertise varies over time based on the needs of the organization

All board members at-large are expected to:

  • Be a MANA de San Diego regular member in good standing (new members are also eligible);
  • Fulfill annual give or get of $1,500 for MANA de San Diego’s programs or events
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings (currently scheduled for the third Monday of every other month), Annual Board Retreat, Annual Leadership Retreat, Annual Membership Meeting and major program events; and
  • Serve on a board committee.
  • Monthly time commitment of up to 5 hours
  • Term – Each director elected by the membership at large shall hold office for no more than three (3) consecutive two (2) year terms, or until his or her successor shall have been elected and qualified; provided, however, if an individual serves three (3) consecutive two (2) year terms, such individual can be re-elected as a director by the membership after one (1) year has elapsed since the expiration of such individual’s third consecutive three (3) year term.

      • Submit a 3-minute video on the following – Share your “Why”. The underlying purpose behind your actions, decisions, and goals.

The video can be taken from your mobile device if it is more convenient. If you are unable to access a device to take a video, please contact the MANA office at manasd@manasd.org

    *Note: If not selected to join the board during this process, your application will be active for a year and be considered to fill any vacancies that may arise. If you prefer to opt out, please let the MANA office know.

Application Process Timeline

  • June 1st thru 30th – Application Window Open
  • July 1st thru 31st – Board Development Committee will finalize applicant review. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview
  • August 1st thru 31st – Applicant interviews take place
  • September 16th – Board Development Committee presents the board slate to the Board of Directors 
  • End of September – Final board slate will be sent out to the membership
  • December TBD – Swearing in of the new Board of Directors at the MANASD Holiday Soirée
